Eight Kinds of Food Improve Children's Intelligence

By Lv Hongyu

In addition to the genetic and environmental factors, the function of children's brain is also highly related with the nutrition of their daily diet. You may not know, a lot of common food is very beneficial to the development of children's brain. As a result, parents can provide more of these foods for their children.

First, millet:
Millet contains a lot of protein, fat, calcium, iron, vitamin B group and other nutrients, so it is known as the major food for the health of the brain.

Second, egg:
Egg contains plenty of lecithin, which can increase the release of acetylcholine in the brain, so as to improve children's memory. Eating one to two eggs every morning not only can strength children's physique and improve their intelligence, but also can make them full of energy.

Third, fish:
Fish not only contains globulin, albumin and a large number of unsaturated fatty acids, but also is rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins, so it can also enhance children's memory.

Fourth, shrimp:
Shrimp contains a great amount of calcium. Every 100 grams of shrimp contains about 2,000 milligrams of calcium. Adequate intake of calcium can ensure the brain in the best working state. In addition, it can also prevent other pediatric diseases caused by calcium deficiency. If the children eat the right amount of shrimp, it can effectively enhance their memory and prevent rickets.

Fifth, milk:
100 grams of milk contains 3.5 grams of protein and 125 milligram of calcium. The calcium in milk can regulate the excitability of nerve and muscle. If the children drink a glass of milk every morning, it can help to improve their cognitive ability and ensure the brain to work efficiently.

Sixth, soybean:
Soybean is rich in quality protein and unsaturated fatty acids, which are the basic ingredients for the growth and repair of brain cells. What's more, soybean also contains lecithin, iron and a variety of vitamins, so adequate intake of soybean can enhance children's memory.

Seventh, onion and garlic:
Both of onion and garlic contain prostaglandin A. As a result, parents can let the children eat some onion and garlic in daily life, which can promote the growth and development of brain cells.

Eighth, animal liver and kidney:
Animal liver and kidney not only are rich in quality proteins and glycolipids, but also contain a lot of choline and iron. Choline can improve the memory, while an adequate supply of iron can provide the brain with sufficient oxygen. As a result, the memory will be improved.

Quick and Easy Relaxation Techniques To Release Stress

Are you in need of some quick and easy relaxation techniques that you can use whenever you feel tension build up? Today's world can be very stressful because we have to manage so many strands of life at once. Even when things are going well for us relaxation techniques can help us to keep on top of things, because life isn't easy. So here are some quick and easy techniques to help you to relax when you need to.

Breathing Relaxation Technique

Take a deep breath right down into the bottom of your lungs and hold it for a couple of seconds. Now slowly, to the count of 3 breathe out saying in your mind "relax" and feel your body relaxing and releasing tension. Repeat this sequence four or five times.

When you are going about your normal business try to breath from your diaphragm, that's the bottom of your chest, instead of from the top. If you do this you will feel less stressed all the time.

Imaginary Holiday Break

Close your eyes and breath in and then out slowly as in the previous exercise. Now begin to imagine a place in which you feel calm and relaxed. It could be a beach, the countryside, on a luxury cruise or any place you choose, either real or imaginary.

Simply relax into the scene so that you can feel, hear and even smell the parts of the scene that you are imagining. Let yourself be immersed in it for a few minutes. Then take a deep breath in and then out as you come back to the present.

Office Yoga Relaxation Technique

This one is relaxing for the hands wrists and upper back so it is great for anyone who works at a computer all day.

Place your hands in a prayer pose and press the palms together hard for a moment or two. Then release and lower your hands and arms. Repeat this several times. You will feel the tension in your back being released.

Head and Shoulder Rolls

Bend your head onto your left and then your right shoulder several times. Then bend your head forward onto your chest and backward as far as you can. Repeat a few times. Now turn your head to the right and to the middle and then to the left as far as you can. Repeat each of these head turns two or three times.
Now shrug your shoulders up and hold for a count of five. Then relax down. Repeat a few more times.

Daily Meditation Relaxation Technique

This relaxation technique isn't as quick as the others but if you have 10 or 15 minutes to spare it will help you to cope with daily stress. Simply sit in a chair and close your eyes. Think about your breath going in through your nose down into your lungs resting there for a moment or two and then being released. As you do this your mind will wander but when you catch it just go back to thinking about your breath again.
This is a form of meditation and it should be practiced every day at least twice. If you do it regularly it will have deep healing effects and will be a way to improve your stressful life on a permanent basis.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

You can't really do this relaxation technique when you are at work but it is worth learning to do at home if you feel very tense. It is a useful one to use if you have trouble sleeping.

For this you simply tense and release each muscle group in turn starting with your feet and working up to the top of your head. As you hold each group very tightly and then release it notice the difference between how it felt before and how it feels now that it is completely relaxed.

This method aims to help you to learn the difference in your body between a relaxed and a tense muscle.

Four Things You Should Know About Your Subconscious If You Want to Make Changes

 By Gregory Brice

Thousands of people struggle daily with all kinds of problems that seem to resist their best efforts to change them. You know the sort of things I'm talking about. It might be feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem issues, lack of confidence, overeating and chronic overweight problems, constantly sabotaging relationships, 'performance blockages', fears, depression, anger issues, the inability to let go of bad habits or any one of a million other things.

These kinds of problems are almost always driven by subconscious dynamics - things that are beyond our conscious awareness and conscious control. When this is the case and we want to make true and permanent changes, the subconscious is the only part of us that can make the changes. If it's being caused by the subconscious, it has to be changed by the subconscious. Regardless of the kind of professional or self-help methods we choose, there are several things we should understand about the manner in which our subconscious operates.

* Don't bully your subconscious

Firstly, our subconscious does not respond kindly to being 'bullied'. It does not like being pushed and shoved and 'told what to do' or 'how to be'. Our subconscious demands respect. It responds to what we might call 'gentle persuasion' and suggestion. In most cases, to continue demanding change or bombarding our self with 'positive thinking' or 'affirmations' amounts to 'bullying'. If you have tried those things and have not succeeded, then stop it! If it hasn't worked for you in the past, it will likely not work for you in the future. There is nothing inherently 'wrong' with thinking positively or using the common strategy of 'positive affirmations'. However, where there are deep-seated beliefs, feelings and thoughts that are in opposition to your positive affirmations, you will usually make it worse rather than better. If somewhere deep inside, you don't feel and believe you are 'worthy' for example, to keep consciously telling yourself you are, amounts to lying to yourself and you simply strengthen the underlying belief.

* Don't test your subconscious

Secondly, our subconscious does not like being 'tested'. If you are either doing or think you have done what is necessary to create some kind of change, and then proceed to 'test the results', you will probably be disappointed. By deliberately testing the results of your efforts, you are subtly and strongly implying that you may not have made the changes. After all, why else would you be 'testing' it? This 'negative' implication of course, goes straight to your subconscious. You are in effect, telling your subconscious that you haven't made the change and you will usually respond accordingly! We are naturally and automatically drawn towards our predominating thoughts (especially those that are mostly subconscious) and in this case the predominating (subconscious) thought is the opposite of what you want.

* Analysis is paralysis

Thirdly, our subconscious hates being analysed. There is a natural process of 'analysis' going on at a subconscious level, 24 hours a day and this is necessary to simply get us through the day. However, if we deliberately and consciously start analysing our thoughts, feelings and responses, we will be trespassing on our subconscious' domain and interfere with this natural process. Regardless of how uncomfortable, unhealthy, or downright bizarre the symptoms might be, the original, subconscious intention behind those symptoms is always positive and protective. Trying to consciously analyse and figure out how or why we feel like this, can be perceived as a threat to this protective role of the subconscious. It is not uncommon for people to undergo years of analysis, only to find the problems remain as deeply entrenched as ever. Thankfully, there are better ways to deal with these things.

* Clock watching

Finally, the subconscious part of us hates being put on a time limit. For reasons similar to those mentioned above, we will often get the opposite of what we want if we try to dictate a time limit for change. The subconscious (when given the right opportunity) will make changes when it is right to do so. With the correct help, some people make change very quickly and others do it more slowly. We are all different and we all respond to change differently. It is again to do with showing the subconscious respect. Putting a time limit on the process of subconscious change can amount to bullying. Due to the universal, so-called 'Law of Reversed Effect', the more impatient you are, the longer it may take you to change. The secret of successful change is to give your subconscious the opportunity it needs and allow the changes to unfold in the manner and the time that is right for you.

Modern therapy methods side step these subconscious 'no-go-zones' and when used correctly, most people get the results they have struggled for, quite quickly and easily. If it's 'too hard' or takes 'too long', you are probably treading on the toes of your subconscious. Remember - its intentions are always pure and it always wants the best for you.

It does, however, demand respect and the proper opportunity to do what is needed. If you would like more information about this, please feel free to visit my Website and contact me.

Bringing the ocean

Aquamarine blue is also the color of water with its life-giving properties and the light blue of the seas. According to legend it has its origin in the treasure chest of the legendary mermaids, and has for ages been reputed to be a lucky stone for sailors. The name Aquamarine comes from the Latin terms "aqua" meaning water, and "mare" meaning sea. Allegedly its powers develop best if the stone is immersed in sun-drenched water.

Often aquamarine is heat-treated to enhance the color. However, this color change is permanent and quite normal with many gemstones these days. When choosing aquamarine, go for intensity of color and clarity of the stone.

How to Release Stress by Coloring

Coloring is a natural childhood joy. You see pure bliss on a child's face when given a new coloring book and especially a new box of crayons. Did you ever notice that one of the first things a child does with her crayons is to smell them? Their smell is invigorating and tantalizing.

Applying color to the black and white pages of a coloring book, is creative, fun, relaxing and you get to create something to be proud of.

Unfortunately as adults, we tend to put our crayons aside for more grown up endeavors. As we mature we put away our artistic aspirations and replace them with more worthwhile activities.

I must admit that personally I bought into this concept hook, line and sinker. When my two older daughters were small, I colored with them, and enjoyed doing it. I never realized the calming effect it had on both the girls and me.

My older daughter continued to draw; she especially drew mandalas and other geometric types of pictures. I was proud of her endeavors for they were truly beautiful. Years passed and any thought of coloring was far from my mind, then after my third daughter was born, coloring resurfaced. I was still too deeply entrenched in the line between childhood and adulthood that I resisted the draw of the crayons.

My daughter is developmentally delayed and autistic, which is very sad, yet at the same time there are many joys. She loves coloring, even as a teenager she has a very large box of coloring books of many types. She loves crayons, especially the new scented crayons; these are crayons that leave behind a scent after you color with them. They have some really good scents such as roses and linen, but most of them smell, well yucky, to me. They have scents such as dirty sneakers, wet dog, and other unusual scents.

I have to admit to ridiculing her for wanting such childish things; I wanted her to be normal. What I didn't realize is that her fondness for coloring and crayons is very normal. It just isn't what most teenage girls spend their time doing.

Finally I saw the light and recognized the almost instant calming and relaxing effect that drawing had on her. It was a fantastic mood-altering, anger reducing experience. At long last, I shut up about telling her to grow up.
I joined her in coloring, using the time to tune into her instead of against her. I found that I enjoyed coloring once again. It did its work on me also. Along with bonding with my child, I also relaxed and enjoyed the calming effect that coloring had on me.

I then did research on the values of coloring for an adult. I found that my kids were right. Coloring is indeed a stress buster. It breaks the circuit of our over-loaded brains filled with never-ending thoughts. I found out that coloring quiets your mind as you focus on your masterpiece.

I also found out that there are no rules when it comes to coloring, color outside the lines; it is surprising a way of breaking the rules, and it feels so good. There are no coloring police to arrest you for breaking the color inside the lines rule. Nor do you have to follow the instructions and use the suggested colors. It is a release that is outstanding.

There are coloring books of every type available for a low price, plus there are pages on the web that you download for free. There are wonderful stained glass types of coloring books that you use colored pencils to color and then put the picture on a window facing the sun and the effect is truly fantastic. Every time you look at it you will re-capture the pleasure you had in creating your masterpiece.

In conclusion get yourself some crayons, colored pencils, markers or paint and allow your self the freedom and stress reducing pleasure of coloring. It is good for you!

How Humor Makes Stress Disappear

We have often been told that laughter is the best medicine. This is a true statement.

Having a sense of humor and finding the funny side of many situations is truly a life saving act.

Much of the distress that stress causes us is the result of perceiving normal daily events in a negative, pessimistic light. Viewing stress in this light can produce illness and disease if it becomes chronic.

If you are able to see the lighter, humorous side of things your stress level will not climb to a dangerous level. In fact, using humor can make negative stress into a positive event and may give you the winners' edge and competitive attitude you need to get ahead.

Research has shown that laughter has amazing health benefits. It can relieve stress, increase pain tolerance and support your immune system.

What can laughter and a good sense of humor do for you?
  • It reduces the level of stress hormones and increases the level of health-enhancing hormones. This results in a stronger immune system and fewer physical effects of stress.
  • Laughter is a physical release: Have you ever said that you either have to laugh or cry? If you choose laughing you will get a physical and emotional release.
  • Internal Workout: A good laugh exercises the diaphragm, contracts the abs and even works out the shoulders leaving more relaxed you afterwards. It even provides a workout for the heart.
  • Distraction: Have you ever experienced a child throwing a tantrum, and if you react in an unexpected way or do something silly the tantrum turns into laughter? Laughter breaks the cycle of stress, and anger.
  • Social Benefit: People connect with each other through laugher. It is contagious just as smiling and kindness are.
  • Find humor in your life: Laugh about life's frustrations instead of complaining about them. Many of the most frustrating events later turn out to be something that you later laugh at. Try a more lighthearted and silly approach to life. You will find life a lot more fun and less stressful.· Fake until you feel it: Just as you should smile until the smile becomes real. Fake laughter provides the same benefits. You body can't tell the difference between 'fake' laughter and real thing the physical benefits are the same.

A good sense of humor and the ability to laugh at life are great ways to enjoy a less stressful life.

Namasmaran Skepticism, Cynicism And Sarcasm

There are broadly four stages of our development; which takes us to perfection, self realization, objective existence, eternal truth, sacchidananda, ishwar, paramatma or parmaeshwar.

Traditionally these stages are identified as baddha, mumukshu, sadhak and Siddha.

Baddha means completely oblivious to one's true self and totally lost in one's subjective or petty self. One can say, totally individualistic.

Mumukshu means one who gets ambiguous but haunting "wake up" calls promptings from the core of his or her heart. The restlessness begins. The search of the "self" though, without direction or clarity begins. There doubts, distractions, disturbances and frantic activity like that of a person who just begun to learn swimming.
Sadhak stage begins when the mumukshu gets the guidance and direction for the search. The efforts get rectified and refined. The pace, the swiftness and the momentum increase. The progress however is full of subtle, conflicting, confusing, harrowing, dreadful spells of ordeals in physical, instinctual, emotional and intellectual realms of an individual. These are often destabilizing, uprooting and violent in nature. These are essentially the ordeals which destroy all kind of subjective frameworks of an individual and bring him closer to objective state of existence.

Siddha is a stage; marked by the final and extremely subtle processes of dissolution of subjective or individual self into cosmic self. The struggles in this stage are often beyond the comprehension through language of digits and letters. These stages are beyond the comprehension of our all stages of individual consciousness. These stages are also beyond three dimensions.

When we are in the first 3 stages of development we are tender and delicate within. We are amenable, accessible, vulnerable and susceptible to damaging and harmful influences and inflictions coming from within us; and from the people trapped in various phases of the stage of baddha. Baddhas manifest in many ways. But; possibly the most dangerous manifestations are the powerful inflictions such as the skepticism, cynicism and sarcasm. These manifestations of the baddha individuals are stupefying, disorienting, distracting, distorting, dragging and devastating in nature. The baddha individuals knowingly or unknowingly manifest these and energize, expedite, facilitate the process of dementia, amnesia i.e. loss of memory of our self or soul consciousness; and suck us in the hell of VINASHA! The meaning of VINASHA i.e. ghastly total destruction; according to Geeta, Dnyaneshvari and Dasbodh; and in my experience also; is obliviousness or forgetfulness of God i.e. our true self.

Hence it is said; "To prevent VINASHA; avoid the company of those, who forget, deny or denounce God i.e. self and/or malign their motherland, guru, mother and father! Such avoidance whether physical, mental or intellectual; is possible; through the unshakable steadfastness and persistence in the practice of NAMASMARAN. Is it not possible to avoid VINASHA in some other simpler ways and through some short cuts? In my experience; NO! It is not possible in any other way!"

Being Hugged and Hugging People Improves Health

By Kirsten Whittaker

Science is coming to find that touch is perhaps the ultimate mind/body medicine as it improves health. Not only does it lower blood pressure and heart rate, but it also serves to increase immune function and ease pain, not to mention having you feeling happier and less anxious. Better yet, it doesn't seem to matter if you're being hugged or hugging people.

Here are some great ways to enjoy the benefits of touch...

1. Get a massage

Even a quick one at the mall or an inept one from your partner will do the trick. Anyone who's ever gotten a massage knows how it can help you unwind. But it's not all in your head, being massaged causes muscles to relax, your heartbeat to slow, your blood pressure to fall and levels of stress hormone cortisol to go down as well.

Cortisol suppresses the immune system, but any activity that sets off the relaxation response will also trigger the rebooting of the immune response.

2. Get (or Give) A Hug

When you embrace your partner, your mom, a child or close friend, your body is flooded with oxytocin, a so-called "bonding hormone" that makes you feel secure and builds trust while also bringing down cortisol levels and reducing stress.

Women who received more cuddles from partners had elevated levels of oxytocin, reduced blood pressure and lower heart rates than women who didn't get hugged often according to research.

3. Hold Hands

It's a simple pleasure... entwining your fingers with your one-and-only is super calming, a result confirmed when researchers gave functional MRIs to 16 married women after telling them they might get a mild shock. When the women held hands with one of the experimenters, the stress response seen on the scans calmed, but when they held hands with their husbands, it really eased quite a bit.

What's more, when you're in a happy relationship, holding hands cuts stress related activity in the hypothalamus, and this brings down the levels of cortisol going through your body, as well as reducing pain sensors in the brain.

4. Getting Intimate

No surprise here... but being intimate with your partner... the skin-to-skin stroking and touching, floods us with oxytocin and feel good endorphins. Regular sexual activity also does the body good, and might just keep us from getting sick as often.

Those who had sex up to twice a week had 30% more immunoglobulin A (IgA) (needed for fighting off infections) in their saliva than those who didn't do it as often according to a recent study.

5. Cuddle with a pet

If you have a pet as part of your life, you've probably already noticed how scratching them behind the ears, patting their fur or rubbing their little bellies reduces your own feelings of tension.

Research shows that a person's blood pressure drops when they pet dogs; especially if it's a dog they know and love. Your feelings of pain may also be reduced by spending time with your pet, as you're focusing on your pet and not your own issues. So it's not only contact with other humans that improves health.

Beautiful Life

We may call it intuition, sixth sense, divine guidance, spell of good power, divine love or anything. It is beyond our logic and sometimes even against our logical arguments. One is tempted to hypothesize existence of "super autonomic nervous system" that is differently and vaguely described as residing in the right cerebral hemisphere of right handed people and in charge of non sequential thinking, appreciation of poetry, holistic perception and so on. In my view this vaguely described functional complex which I refer to as super autonomic nervous system resides well spread in several silent areas such as those of prefrontal cortex.

But the purpose of this article is not merely to indicate this possibility; but to visualize the culmination; of the vast panorama of knowledge; in the form of various arts (including martial arts and arsenals), sports, literature, science, technology, religions, ethics, rituals, laws etc and overall accomplishments of mankind. Let us visualize and remind ourselves and reiterate repeatedly that the purpose and the culmination of all the accomplishments of mankind is self realization (which may be tangible in future; in terms of evolution of super autonomic nervous system). We, the people of world (irrespective of religions, races, and nationalities) have to keep on organizing, reorganizing, orienting and reorienting our accomplishments in the direction of this self realization.

While the instincts of not merely survival, but racial, religious, ideological, cultural, economic and political supremacy are natural and understandable; they are undoubtedly the obstacles in individual and global blossoming. The indiscriminate violence and rabid propaganda for one's racial, religious, ideological, cultural, economic and political supremacy are counterproductive and self defeating.

Let us realize that we are blessed to participate in the real and most urgent expedition of conquering the basal nature of ourselves, which prevents us from self realization (being truly nonviolent, happy and in evolved state of living that preempts our pettiness and superficiality)! We are really fortunate to have the potential to acquire such a state of living! Even as there are many ways prescribed by many for such evolved living; the simplest and universal one is NAMASMARAN, which need not be believed, but verified.

Practicing, preaching, writing, publishing, broadcasting, sponsoring, talking, sharing; in fact; doing whatever we can to promote NAMASMARAN (and other activities and programs in respective fields conducive to NAMASMARAN and self realization) ensures and ensues individual and global blossoming).

Useful Tips To Perk Up Your Blood Circulation

By Leo Orchad

It's a sad fact that as we grow older, our bodies start to ache more and our skin starts to change, and one of things that tend to be quite common are broken capillaries which start to appear, and the most prominent place tends to be the face.

They are noticeable as small red lines or patches, especially around the nose area. The reason for this is because your skin gets thinner in this area. But they could also indicate a more serious problem.

Try this tip. Stand in front of a mirror and try to measure the longest broken capillaries around your nose.
If you find that they are over 3-4 mm long then it is possible that you have poor circulation and also a weak cardiovascular system as well.

If this happens to you then try some natural boosters in the way of topical treatments that contain horse- chestnut, which is believed to help blood flow.

Alternatively consider a Pycnogenol supplement. This is a pine bark supplement with lots of healing abilities, and it is thought to strengthen capillary walls.

Also consider eating foods rich in antioxidants such as berries which contain anthocyanins, which will help strengthen your blood vessels.

Also consider alternative antioxidant rich foods such as green tea, dark chocolate and red wind. All these contain circulation-boosting antioxidants.

So try some of these remedies if you feel that you may have poor circulation, and act quickly. If in any doubt however, it is always advisable to speak to your general practitioner.

Leo's passion is writing articles online which he has been doing for a while now. This author covers a wide range of interesting and helpful subjects, however he specializes in fitness, dieting and weight loss, you can also check out his latest website at http://www.antioxidants-guide.com/ where you can discover how certain foods slow aging and why we should be eating them.

Astral Projection Classes - Real Astral Travel

By Dalai Lumer

Astral Projection Classes, both online and in classroom experiences, can help you achieve astral projection. There are a great many ways to achieve this.

Searching the internet for bits of information and assembling it all together can be challenging to say the least.
But to backup for a minute, let's talk about what astral projection, or astral travel or out of body experiences are precisely. There are so many different ways of describing it then it's sometimes difficult to get a handle on it.

An out of body experience is an experience whereby your consciousness detaches from your physical being and is then able to observe your physical body from a different vantage point.

Astral projection is the next step. This means that once you have achieved the out of body experience, you can project consciousness somewhere else, for example, the next room or even a different place entirely such as a different city, country, mountain top or planet.

Astral Travel generally describes everything above as one.

Astral projection classes will usually cover these sorts of details but also delve into the practical details.
Any class you find will follow more or less the same general outline to help you easily attain success in the shortest possible time period.

Your class will first teach you relaxation techniques. This is critical if you wish to begin to meditate. The next step after relaxation is focus.

Once you have mastered the art of relaxing your mind and body, the next natural step is to focus your thoughts on a single task or scene to the exclusion of all else. This is a very important and fundamental step.
This is the step that will help you quickly and easily detach achieve your first out of body experience.

What follows next is meditation, uniting mind and spirit, getting in touch with your spiritual being and exploring your entire self both physical and metaphysical.

The final step will then be to detach mind and spirit from the physical. Now keep in mind, the detachment is somewhat of a misnomer. You do not truly detach, your are simply using your mind, spirit and your natural abilities to explore other realms or dimensions. Mind and body are always one, but this ability is truly within us all, just waiting to be exercised.

A good way to get started with the above techniques is through yoga. Yoga teaches many of the necessary skills that you need to started with astral travel. Astral projection classes are usually available online, through email courses e-books and of course through paper books.

Astral Projection Vibrations - Astral Travel

 By Dalai Lumer

What are astral projection vibrations and what are they all about? Well there is both a simple and a complicated answer. It's important to understand that they are a key component of understanding and achieving astral projection. Don't worry about the details too much, but follow along.

Astral travel is all about leaving the bounds of the physical world and traveling through the astral realms. Now, whether you believe that you detach from your body or that you simply have a remote viewer, the end result is the same.

As you pass begin to achieve your point of detachment you will most likely feel a buzz, or perhaps feel a tingling sensation or have some kind of electrical spark like images in your head. These are what most people refer to as astral projection vibrations.

These vibrations are simply a sign that you are reaching the astral realms. It can take some time to go from a focused meditative state and pass through the vibrations and onto the astral dimensions, but once you begin to feel or see the vibrations, you are well on your way.

The more complicated explanation involves the way your brain functions. We have all heard of the alpha state, beta state and so on with respect to our minds and body's.

There is a particular frequency, which is a different way of saying vibration, where astral projection, detachment and travel occurs. It is typically referred to as the Lambda or Epsilon range. This is the frequency our brain is functioning on when we are able to access the mystic levels and astral projection.

As you focus your thoughts and guide your mind to achieve astral travel, our brain waves slow to this point. As you brain passes into this frequency range, that is when you experience vibration and these exciting and interesting experiences.

This is referred to generally as the vibration state. Astral projection experts suggest that when you first reach the vibrational state that you practice that you practice coming in and out of vibration. This will assist you in maintaing control of the experience.

It can also be helpful after you achieve the vibrational state to exercise detaching slowly and in a controlled manner. Perhaps roll out of your physical state, but slowly. Or imagine first stretching out a leg, or an arm.

Some practitioners will also imagine stretching parts of your body, but then bringing them back to the physical.
These are exercises that you can practice when you achieve vibrational state. The aim is to increase control and therefore give you more interesting and prolonged astral projection experiences. Like most things, the more time you invest in practicing the better off you will be. And of course, the happier you will be with the results. Happy Travels!

How To Visualize Colors When Meditating

One of the most powerful types of meditation is when you are visualizing colors during your session. This is an easy technique to try out especially if you are new to meditation. If you are rather well versed in various techniques, this should still be an interesting method to try out due to the many benefits it offers.

One of the best ways to work with colors during meditation is to have either some rocks / crystals or a flower around. The colors of the nature are the best to work with in this case. This is because the natural colors are most vibrant and real. They are not man-made and manipulated. Also natural colors can heal so you will gain this extra benefit from practicing this technique as well.

Many people prefer meditating with a tulip or a red rose. The flower should be put in a vase nearby so that you don't have to stretch your neck to see it. While you are initially looking at the flower and imprint the features and its color in your mind, you will then close your eyes and try to visualize the flower with your inner eyes.

Can you see the color? What about the shape? Does the rose have thorns? Is the stem wet?

If you start to meditate on flowers, it is good to take a different type after a few sessions. This way your mind doesn't get too comfortable with the shape and color of your chosen plant.

You can also meditate on a favorite rock. I use a rose crystal for some of my meditation sessions. There are many beautiful crystals that you can find for your meditation session and each type has a different color. Try to find one that is not smooth so that your mind can really enjoy looking at each of the crevices in the rock. When the light falls on it, depending on which part it touches, you can separate several different colors in the process. This is a fun mind exercise as well.

When you meditate on a crystal, simply keep looking at it for a while and then close your eyes and try to see it with your 3rd eye. Start from the top and go slowly downwards. Can you recreate its rough shape?

Crystals give us a lot of positive energy that we can use to our benefit in physical and emotional healing. Some people meditate by holding the crystal in their hands so they feel the pulsing of the energy coming from the rock right into their fingers. This is another great way to experiment with meditation in an easy and relaxing manner.

When you are ready, try out this crystal meditation for an easy way of learning meditation.

Health Concerns: Are We Worrying Ourselves to Death? By Clive Lilwall

By Clive Lilwall

We are besieged with health worries. Even a seemingly small problem can develop into an obsession. Is that mole growing? Maybe it's the onset of melanoma. Is that bump a tumor -- maybe early signs of breast cancer? My heart seems to be working overtime; maybe fighting off a heart attack? According to the Reader's Digest Book of Facts the heart beats more than two billion times during an average lifespan. Could yours be wearing out prematurely?

Like paranoid medical students, the more we know about the complexity of the human body, the more some of us worry about malfunctions. The statistics are awe-inspiring. There are trillions of cells in the human body, controlled by 100-200,000 genes in 46 chromosomes. Two hundred and fifty million molecules of hemoglobin course through our blood system -- five million red blood cells in the tiniest drop of blood that we spill. Signals move along our nerves at up to 600 feet per second. The more we know about our bodies, the more some of us worry, because we have become aware of the thousands of things that can go wrong.

Medical science is vastly increasing knowledge of how our bodies work. It used to be that the doctor was the revered source of information for all medical knowledge. Now we're likely to get medical information from numerous sources: our doctors, books and magazines, the Internet, and of course from our friends and relatives who love to give detailed descriptions of their ailments and the miracle remedies they've used. While we marvel at the intricacies inside us, we also worry at the inevitability of breakdown of the breathtakingly complex machinery that we call our body. This isn't surprising. The medical and pharmaceutical industries want us to be aware of the slightest malfunction. The result is that so many of us are becoming hypochondriacs. The human body is so complex that we will never understand completely how its systems work and coordinate with each other and the external environment. However, maintenance of the body isn't that complicated. Supply it with sufficient nutritious food and water and protect it from danger and it can last well over 70 years. The human race has lived for thousands of years without the benefits of modern medicines. Admittedly, you are liable to contract some diseases simply because of your genes. But a great deal of disease can be avoided by simply having a good diet, taking enough exercise and not worrying so much about your health.

Clive Lilwall taught communications at Durham College, Oshawa, Ontario. He is the author of "How to Stop Your 67 Worst Worries." If you are leading a life of worry and want solutions, read "How to Stop Your 67 Worst Worries." The good news is that you can often conquer worry simply by changing your ways of thinking about life. Hyperacusis and Sound Enrichment Using Water Fountains

 By Paul Lauengco

Hyperacusis is the excessive sensitivity to everyday sounds, commonly accompanied by tinnitus or ringing in the ears. It's a condition wherein normal environmental sounds become unobtrusively loud and even painful. It is a condition that requires a complete lifestyle change because everyday tasks like communicating and travelling become a real challenge due to its nature.

A good way to control hyperacusis is through the use of Sound Enrichment, wherein people affected listen to pleasant, non-stimulating sounds 24/7 to reduce the contrast between their tinnitus and the background silence that would otherwise exist in certain situations. People with hyperacusis typically use wearable sound generators to achieve this, but a lot of people may not have access to them or have poor tolerance to wearing them. An alternative is strategically placing waterfall or floor fountains in their homes and places they frequent. Experts believe that the best type of sound enrichment is nature itself and the sound of running water works really well in this situation.

Furthermore, tabletop or floor fountains are more favorable to unsightly sound generators because they are inconspicuous and do not draw attention to the problem unlike the sound generators. They even make great decorative pieces. Also, the sights and sounds from water fountains help relieve stress and promote well-being. If you have a problem with hyperacusis or tinnitus, you might want to think about investing in a nice decorative fountain or two. You'll reduce your overall reactivity to everyday sounds and be on your way to a happier and healthier you.

Paul Lauengco is a product expert at the website, Garden & Pond Depot.com. This site offers customers the ability to shop for any type of water fountains from wall fountains, floor fountains to tabletop fountains. In addition, you will find many other products that can help promote serenity in your outdoor environment including garden lights and fountain pumps. Visit us or talk to one of our water fountain experts to find a solution that is perfect for you.

Our Life and Optimal Health: It's About What We Choose!

Ever wonder how some folks seem to just "flow" through life? How is it that their days seem balanced, relationships solid, energy good, health fantastic? Have they been sprinkled with magic dust or what???

Yet, if you speak with these folks, you will find that just as much "life stuff" has happened to them. So what's the difference?

Optimal Health is about more than just weight loss, or exercising more, or looking good in your clothes.

Optimal Health is about taking your unique life and making it all that it can be....on all levels. It is difficult to feel optimally healthy if you aren't sleeping well, if your stress levels are playing havoc on your relationships or eating patterns, if you are so out of touch with who YOU are and what you want, or if your life feels controlled by outside forces.

Taking an honest assessment of your current total health status takes guts. Self-awareness takes courage. For some, it might be easy to look at physical health, but scary to look honestly at emotional wellbeing. For others, a journey into the realm of physical health can bring up uncomfortable realities of how they deal with job or relationship stress, and the challenge of how to change that reality.

But what is the alternative to looking honestly at ourselves? A life lived without satisfaction? Choices based on denying ourselves a life that is in integrity with what we know we want?

Our ability to create a life of "flow" and health begins with a look at our current reality. While there are certainly things beyond our control, there are many things on which we can have impact.
Start by what you want, with a look at where you are now.

An assessment I like to use with my clients is http://www.drwayneandersen.com/quiz/draa1.php. Acknowledge that choice, and attitude, are under your control. Know that support is available in many places; often you just have to ask!

Under- Or Over-Sexed? Balance Your Chakras!

From Tiger Woods to Charlie Sheen, we hear over and over again about sex addiction. At the same time, a majority of married women were recently surveyed and reported a lack of sexual activity. While there are many causes for sexual dysfunction, if you're over- or under-sexed, you might want to consider the balance of your chakras.

The first or Root Chakra is linked to safety and security, and sexual function in men - the penis is governed by the Root Chakra, which deals with basic instincts. This chakra is situated at the base of the spine, and its color is red. Its main function is to keep us grounded and alive and is associated with physical sensation.

In women, their genitalia are in the sacral area, and the second or Sacral Chakra governs their love, passion, sexuality and creativity. This chakra is found in the pelvic area below the navel. Its color is orange and its main function is related to procreation and the giving and receiving of sexual pleasure and emotion.

If your energy is stuck at the Sacral Chakra, your sex and your love life will be stuck as well. Accumulated stress in the body, whether emotional or physical, erects barriers to the natural flow of our life energy. So, too much stress may equal no love or even any prospects for it.

Using yoga to balance the Sacral Chakra, you can practice the cobbler's pose to encourage life energy to flow throughout the pelvic area. Swimming, dancing, meditation and anything that encourages pleasure will also stimulate the Sacral Chakra, which is associated with the element of water, and the ebbing and flowing of bodily fluids, like the tides.

If you're a sex addict, your energy may be swirling out of control in the Root or Sacral Chakra, causing havoc in your life. A lack of balance in these two chakras can be caused by a need for attention and nurturing that is never enough. Sometimes, we learn to resort to unusual ways of getting what we need. The sex addict is seeking attention in an unhealthy, distorted and possibly destructive way, as is Charlie Sheen.

We all need love, nurturing and support, but need to find it first within ourselves with a healthy, balanced Root Chakra. After we develop a sense of self, we can continue at the Sacral Chakra to find our place within a healthy relationship.

To balance your chakras, starting at the Root Chakra, try this guided visualization from The Chakra Diaries: Chakra Meditation.

4 Tips For More Energy

By Hal Johnson

In our everyday pressures and tiredness, sometimes it becomes normal to have difficulties in waking up every morning, we always end up at the end of the day tired and exhausted, we feel that fatigue is overcoming us. When these things happen, we wish that we could have more energy and that we can increase what we have now.

Admittedly, the following are some of the benefits we can get when we have high energy:

a. We will have a stronger immune system that can fight back diseases.

b. We can stay younger and longer, too.

c. We can notice that the energy we have will increase year after another.

d. We can also develop in us a more positive outlook in life.

e. We will also have the strongest ability to cope with the changes around us.

f. Our body will be able to get rid of the stress and the effects easily.

g. We can also work more since we can put more enthusiasm and zest in our daily tasks.

h. And we will definitely feel happier and lighter.

And still a lot more that we can count. That is why, I have come up with this article some of the simple yet helpful tips that you can try so that you will be able to increase the energy and the enthusiasm level you have in your life. This way you can make things productive and meaningful. Read one and learn.

1. Try to wake up energized every morning. There are some simple exercises you can while in bed when you are having troubles getting up. First, unroll tour ears-start with the top part of your ear, then gently smooth out all the creases. Then give your earlobe a gentle tug, too. You will notice that with this simple act, you will be able to start your mornings having the energy you need

2. Your movements throughout your day must start with your hips and legs. This way you are freeing the energy up-those that are otherwise locked. Even if you will just get up from a chair, try sitting down, walking, bending, and those movements that will encourage your hips and legs. Doing this consistently will make you feel less exhausted after your day's work.

3. Find out your energizers and also an instant one. The instant energizer you can have can include a mixture of lemon and grape juices-equal in quantity-you will see how the feeling of tiredness at the end of the day will slowly melt away. There are also some things that will make you feel joyful, energized, and relaxed-try doing these things and make them your energizers.

These can include gardening, any physical activity like walking or running, playing with your kids, doing those things that you enjoy, getting enough sleep, the sceneries around-those things that we sometimes take for granted are also those things that can energize us.

4 . Know what drains and depletes your daily energy. When you found them out, do everything that you can so that you will spend less time doing them; if possible letting them go completely. Some of these draining and depleting activities are: meeting the expectations of other people when you are not happy in doing it, negative feelings, anger, insecurity, physical pains, and those people who do negative things to you. avoid doing these things and you will see how you are conserving your energy.

Take Time To Smell Roses And Appreciate Life's Blessings

Are you so busy and caught up in your day to day life? So busy in your work, in some worries, in your family and everything that concerns it, and also so occupied with the fear about what tomorrow will bring that you don't have even a few minutes to stop and smell the roses around you?

Have you ever thought to spend at least one minute of your day to breathe in and appreciate the beauty of life and all its offerings? Why don't you take the time out and go out to see the wonders of life instead of ending up in the musty, moldy, and dank smell of the harshness that can choke out the life from you?

What beauty am I talking about? I am referring to the blessings that life are offering us-in and around of our lives. And if you are living inside a cell with now windows and everything, it is unfortunate that you are not seeing the amazing work of God through the nature that he has given us. Have you ever stopped and looked at the colors of the trees, the sky, the leaves, or the flowers and then spent a minute embracing and sniffing all of them?

How about the fact that you are also missing the symphony, the never-ending one, of the sounds of nature? Have you tried appreciating and listening to the blowing of the winds, the songs of the birds and even the relaxing sound of silence?

When you are fortunate enough to be living near the sea or the ocean, have you spent an early morning moment and listened to the splashing of the body of water? Do you know that a lot of people will be spending an amount just to get a sound recording of the natural sounds that you may be taking for granted?

And all you have to do is just to stop and spend a few minutes. Nothing more.

We sometimes get so caught up in daily concerns and worries and stress that sometimes life is also giving us that we miss out the chance to enjoy and embrace with open arms the gifts that are just lying around for free. This also made us forget to see the beauty of what we have and then just focus on the thoughts that we don't have much.

Have you ever thought that the icing of your cake-your children, you family, and your friends-are just there waiting for you to smell the aroma that they are baking inside? This smell is actually emanating from inside that all you have to do is to stop and savor it. Do you cherish the joy that hearing them tell you "I love you" is giving you? And do you ever stop and say "I love you" to them too? You will be amazed to see how happy they will be and how you will be happy, too.

Remember that even though we have those ups and downs in our lives, all the good and the bad times, there is still and will always be a place where we can go and soothe our soul, and at the same calm our storms in our lives. All we have to do is to take the time and utter the words 'Thank You' addressed to the world. And it would also do us great things when we can stop for a minute and appreciate the blessings that we are having right now. Take note that these are the essence, the fragrance, of our lives.

Learning to live in your present moment will make you realized how unessential other things-those troubles you think are big. Learn to appreciate and think that we have "this moment" and this is what matters now. Forget the past-it's all gone-stop relieving it daily. Remember that the future is what we are creating at the present.

Finally, it would do you good when you let your heart open up and your eyes wide awake and your nose breathing in the pleasures and the goodness of life in general. Keep in mind that you are the only one who can make the difference in our lives-it can start by noticing all the good things in it. Acknowledge your given blessings-and most of all always stop and take time to smell roses.

Take Time To Smell Roses - Are You Afraid Of Doing It?

When spring comes around each year, are you afraid to smell the roses? If you answer is a big yes, then you might have some allergies. And sometimes an extra box of Kleenex will not do the trick anymore. And when you do have an allergy that has been prohibiting you from enjoying simple things, like smelling roses, then you need to know some of the basics.

Given below are some questions that you might ask yourself so that you will also be helped in facing the trouble that is keeping you from appreciating the simple things in life (smelling roses, for one).

1. Are you sure that it is really an allergy? Would it be just a cold? A lot of people have been having trouble when the first bud of spring or even the falling leaves of autumn start coming-this is because it triggers all the different cascading of the allergic symptoms that some people are being attacked by. You can ask yourself-do you sniffle and sneeze?

Do you feel throat and eyes itch? Do you have mornings when waking up happens with a sinusitis or a sinus congestion or some pressure? When this season of allergy comes, do you experience heavy and tired feeling? If you have these hints for almost a week now, then it is possible that you have the so-called seasonal allergies. And if your fever, and the congestion plus the other symptoms, has lasted for about one week only then it is likely that you have a cold. And if you think that you are not sure at all, then it is wise that you visit your doctor.

2. What really are allergies? Let us call this a misguided case, although a well-meaning one which has a mission of protecting us from any foreign invaders. Allergies are generally caused by the immune reaction of our body from the substances that are considered not harmful, inherently, to us. When it comes to the seasonal allergies which are usually and specifically triggered by pollen that is released bursting into and toward the air by mediums like grass, flowers, and trees. And the fact is that the most active and predominant tree pollen is the one responsible for our worst reactions.

3. Accordingly, what could be the different common symptoms? Combined with runny nose, coughing, congestion, and sneezing are itchy eyes and throat. Once these symptoms are not handled properly right away, they will be turning into a more involved and serious conditions-like asthma, sinus infections, and some other ailments involving our respiratory system. This is why it is a must that we do some actions here. It will always be wise to consult with your doctor so that you are sure that you are not in any risk of having serious conditions.

4. Are there any natural and holistic solution? Of course there are. There are a lot of things and steps that we can do so that we can avoid this scenario and will also help you to be comfortable even if the signs and symbols of spring are already here.

Spring is actually the time of new hope-vibrancy, new potential, and growth. This is the season for new beginnings. This should not be looked at with dread feelings just because of the allergies that will come alive along with the season. We will always have ways to stop the suffering and then make us enjoy the little things life is offering. Taking the time to smell the roses and appreciate them should not be something deprived from you.

Three Simple Ways To Discover Your Energy Solution

 By Leo Orchad

If you are like me and seem to be constantly 'on the go' from dawn 'till dusk, obviously you are going to feel totally depleted of energy at the end of the day. In some cases even, it can be a lot earlier than that. I was discussing this with a friend of mine who gave me these 3 tips to discover my energy solution.
Here they are....

If you have the problem of not waking up properly in the mornings, it could be down to not enough light in the morning and too much light at night can 'trigger' a condition known as 'social jet-lag', which leaves us in a groggy condition in the mornings.

A big contributor to this can be something as simple as an evening bath. Lights in the bathroom tend to be bright, and they also reflect off tiles and mirrors etc. This will affect your body clock. So, if you do bath in the evenings, keep the room softly lit, try using some candles for light. This should work.

Lack of vitamin B12 might be the reason you feel tired all the time. Staggeringly, over 40 per cent of us lack this energizing nutrient. Most supplements even, use a form that your body struggles to absorb.

Visit you local health store and try to buy vitamin B12 lozenges that your body can absorb more easily.
If stress exhausts you, try some Ginseng. This will keep energy levels high, even under stress. Now you can find new Ginseng products that are much more stronger as they are made from the most potent part of the plant which is the whole root.

So, just a few very helpful tips I wanted to share with you on how to cope with tiredness and stress by discovering your energy solutions.

Leo is an avid researcher and enjoys writing articles online and has been for a while now. This author covers a broad spectrum of topics however he specializes in fitness, dieting and weight loss, you can also check out his informative website at http://www.antioxidants-guide.com/ this is where you can discover the power of green tea health benefits and why we should all be drinking it.

Treating Depression: A Vital Step in Cancer Recovery

With all of the stresses of today's modern world, depression is unfortunately becoming a common household word for many people in this country and abroad. During the cold winter months, many also struggle with seasonal depression or "winter blues," known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Depression can be caused by any number of factors, such as chronic stress, inactivity, hormone or neurotransmitter imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, medication side effects, chronic inflammation, or lack of adequate sunshine exposure, among others.

Many cases of depression, however, are circumstantial and equally devastating, such as dealing with the life-threatening diagnosis of cancer. Unfortunately, within the current climate of fear surrounding conventional oncology, depression is often not addressed adequately, if at all. The truth is that many health practitioners may unintentionally be darkening their patient's outlook, simply by following standard protocols in conventional oncology.

Seeking treatment and therapy for life-threatening diseases does not have to include heavy doses of sadness and fear, but rather support from a caring holistic health practitioner and guide. This approach can make the path toward recovery a life-changing experience for the better, regardless of the clinical outcome.

Treating depression in cancer patients - without the use of potentially harmful anti-depression medication - is a crucial step to recovery. Establishing appropriate emotional support protocols within conventional cancer care will have many far-reaching positive impacts on recovery and quality of life. Simple meditation practices to calm the mind can have a beneficial effect on overall emotional and physical well being. In addition, there are a number of other activities that can help alleviate stress and depression. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the times of day emphasizing the heart channel are from 11am to 1pm. Patients with depression can watch a comedy during this time of day to strengthen the emotional heart and help foster a lighter mood. Drinking green tea daily has been shown to cut depression by almost half in many subjects, while also providing health-boosting antioxidants and cancer-fighting compounds. Regular exercise such as yoga has also been shown to relieve depression, in part by stimulating stress-busting endorphins to help keep your mood elevated and stable. A healthy diet full of inflammation fighting whole foods has also been linked to lower depression rates, mainly due to its many health promoting benefits.

Coping with stress and anxiety during an illness is challenging, but it is vitally important. Depression weakens the body by compromising the immune system, and higher cortisol levels (a hormone that suppresses immune cells) are found in those dealing with depression. This is one reason why in holistic, integrative medicine, we treat not just the physical body, but psychological and emotional issues as well.

Overall, the most important thing to remember is not to give up hope or give in to despair, and realize that if you suffer from depression, no matter what the circumstances, you are not alone in your struggle. A vast number of support networks have formed both locally and globally, to help people connect with one another in the face of personal adversity. These networks may be some of the most powerful therapies of all, as the social bonds that form the basis of community are some of the best medicine we know. Astral Travel Information - Find It Online

 By Dalai Lumer

The art of astral travel has been around for thousands of years. Astral Travel Information has been found in Ancient civilizations. They would practice astral projection for many reasons. Some would report speaking to peoples from an earlier time to gain wisdom and knowledge of the world around them.

Some would travel because it was considered a privilege that only the elite could enjoy.

Whatever the reasons, the fact is it's part of our human nature and open to us all. It's as natural as any of our abilities and is within us the same way our mind and spirit is within us.

There are some straightforward questions that most of us have.

What Is Astral Travel Anyway?

Generally speaking astral travel refers to the ability to project outside of our physical body as energy only, or spirit only whatever you want to call it. It means that you are able to travel to times and places that would never be able to physically.

Another term that is often used is out of body experience or astral projection. It means the same thing and it refers to the same ability.

What Happens During Astral Projection?

When you astral project, your mind or spirit detaches from your physical body and you are able to look at your physical body from an entirely different perspective. You can move around and travel through physical barriers with no regard to the physical world around you. You can not however move or touch anything in this state. People in the physical world can not see you or hear you.

Can I Learn Astral Travel?

Simple answer here, Yes. Anyone can learn it. Learn is not really the right term. Anyone can reveal the talent within themselves. You already know how, you just may not know it yet. You already do it in your sleep, you just need to learn to control it.

What Are the Astral Dimensions?

The astral dimensions or astral planes are those areas into which we can travel in our astral body or with our astral remote. Some bear a lot of resemblance to our physical world. Some are completely different. There are are many different realms you can travel to, the realm of time, the realm of the ages and so on.

How Do I Learn?

Learning takes some time and practice but is absolutely achievable by anyone. The best way to learn varies with the person. A great place to start is with a Yoga class. You will learn all of the skills you need in terms of meditation and focus to achieve astral travel.

The next logical step would then be to find a course online which will get a great source of astral travel information and perhaps a source of binaural and isochronic tones or crystals. And of course you need a healthy dose of patience. With practice you can definitely do it. Try it today.

6 Heart Inspired Facts!

Be Heart Inspired!

Do you really know how powerful and amazingly intelligent your heart is?

Oh yes, the heart is much more than an organ in your chest. It inspires you: body, mind, and spirit.

Heart Inspired Facts

1. Your Heart is small but mighty.

The heart's a muscle with chambers, valves, and vessels. It only accounts for about 3 percent of total body weight and is a little larger than the size of your fist. It's located between the lungs approximately mid chest with about two thirds of it lying to the left of your breastbone.

2. It's powerful muscular contractions force blood from its chambers, through valves, and vessels to nourish every cell in your body.

One beat of your heart pumps blood through vessels in your lungs where it absorbs oxygen and releases carbon dioxide. Then the blood flows on thorough vessels called arteries that grow progressively smaller to arterioles, then tiny capillaries. Here, the blood nourishes your cells while exchanging oxygen and nutrients for metabolic wastes including carbon dioxide.
From there your blood returns to the heart from tiny vessels called veinioles that grow progressively larger to form veins. The heart again pumps the blood to the lungs. In the lungs, carbon dioxide exchanges for oxygen and the cycle repeats every heartbeat, every second of your life.

There's no need for thinking about it or willing it. The heart makes it so.

3. The heart has an intelligence of its own.

Most people think of the brain as the control center of their body. But this may not be so say scientists at the Institute of HeartMath:

"The heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart!"

It contains its own built-in nervous system so sophisticated that scientists call it "heart brain." It contains over 40,000 neurons and it can independently sense, process information, and demonstrate a type of learning, say these scientists.

4. It secretes hormones and neurotransmitters that profoundly affect brain and body function.

One of these hormones, oxytocin, is known as the "love" or "bonding" hormone.

5. The heart center plays a major role in healing through the human energy system.

The heart not only responds to emotion, but its signals play a major role in the quality of emotional experience. It acts as the center for love, compassion, and forgiveness.
Through its extensive communication system with the brain, it can affect thinking and perception.
Techniques like those used by HeartMath can quickly elicit positive emotional states that have positive effects throughout your body and its environment.

6. The heart acts as a spiritual center.

Many traditions connect the heart to love and spirit. "Through it flows the energy of connectedness with all of life," says Barbara Brennan in Hands of Light.
Although science shies from studying the spiritual realm, it is beginning to understand the heart's subtle power through the study of its electromagnetic fields.
"There is evidence that the information contained in the heart's powerful field may play a vital synchronizing role in the human body-and may affect others around us as well," say HeartMath Scientists.

Bottom Line

Nurture yourself by keeping in MIND and HEART these seven facts. Be HEART INSPIRED: body mind and spirit!

Keeping Your Connections Clear

 By Irma Palmer

If you are very hungry and you eat some food, will your hunger go away? The answer is yes, if you eat enough. If you eat food regularly, will it keep you from becoming hungry again? The answer is yes, if you eat enough of it consistently. But is preventing hunger the purpose of food?

Even though eating food is a very effective strategy for decreasing or even eliminating hunger temporarily, hunger will always return over time. This is the nature of life. As your body uses up the nutrients contained in the food, it requires more to continue operating at peak efficiency. And so, hunger returns again. Even though eating food consistently can be a good way to keep from getting too hungry, it is ridiculous to believe the purpose of food is to eliminate or prevent hunger.

Certainly we are all aware that food serves many more important functions than simply relieving hunger. It is our fuel for keeping us alive, providing much needed nutrients to allow our bodies to heal, function, adapt to the environment, and continue growing throughout our lives. But hunger is merely the physical sensation that tells us our bodies need to be refueled. Just like the sensation of hunger, pain is often the first sign people notice indicating they may have a problem that can be addressed through chiropractic care. And yet, just like believing that food exists merely to relieve hunger, many people apply the same limited line of thinking to pain and chiropractic care.

These people do not fully understand that the purpose of chiropractic care is to maintain the flow of communication freely over the nerve systems between their brain and all of their trillions of cells, so that the natural energy of life within the body can actually perform all of the functions listed above - animating, coordinating, adapting, healing and growing our bodies from conception until death. They do not understand that without totally unobstructed neurological connection, nothing would function as well as intended.

Maybe it's because chiropractic care in the right amount is so good at decreasing or even eliminating pain and dis-EASE. Or perhaps it is because with consistent enough care many people can even prevent the recurrence of their health problems. Although chiropractic care is a very effective strategy for helping regain a natural state of health, your level of health and vitality will always vary over time due to the physical, chemical and mental stresses of every day life. If these stresses exceed your "internal resistance," they break you down and you progressively lose your health and well-being. Health (normal function and the ability to adapt to stress) is a result of the free flow and adequate expression of your natural vitality.

When your brain and body are fully connected through a well-aligned spine and fully functioning nervous system, they communicate effectively and your body properly comprehends and responds to any changes (stress) in your daily environment. The result is an ability to adapt to these changes with effortless ease. In addition, you are able to heal and continually grow in every way - physically, mentally and emotionally - and are thinking at a high enough level to make good choices in every area of your life.

The truth is everyone is growing and dying at the same time, but one of these two processes always dominates the other everyday. In other words, everyday we are either becoming weaker and moving toward disease and death, or we are growing stronger and moving toward health, wellness and wholeness. The chiropractic approach to life and the adjustment process allows us the opportunity to progressively grow stronger rather than weaker, everyday.

So you see, believing the purpose of chiropractic care is to eliminate or prevent pain and illness is as short-sighted as believing the purpose of food is to eliminate or prevent hunger! The real purpose of lifelong, family chiropractic care is to continually maximize the flow and expression of your natural, God-given health and to help you consistently and progressively possess the highest levels of health, happiness and the fullest expression of life! Simply put, Chiropractic is about life and what makes people live.
