Get Fit While You Sit - Why Exercise Is For Everyone

By Joseph D Cooper

About 12 years ago now my father suffered a round of medical procedures that left him unable to move and function as he normally had been accustomed to. To go from an active person to a person with limited mobility is hard enough but to now become dependent upon others to care for you was a bit too hard to swallow. In response my father began working out.

You can imagine that a man whose is unable to rise from his chair without assistance is certainly not out running a marathon. He was however willing to start by doing even the smallest bit of exercise. If you know of anyone who has had their health challenged and perhaps desires to shape up but can't make it to the gym, share with them these 3 reasons everyone should exercise.

Change Your Life By Changing Your Body

We all know that for the most part we are led by our feelings. The key here is to always position yourself so that you feel great most of the time. If you feel different, you will do things differently. After his medical procedures, my father felt depressed and weak. The moment he started to take ownership of his own health, you could see the life return to his face. Any low impact exercise program whether light weight resistance training.

Your Bones Need Muscle Activity

There needs to be a shift from exercise seen as a gateway to bulking up or preparing for a marathon. Real physical fitness is necessary for all people who desire to be healthy. The goal should be to wake up all your muscles and develop a great body shape. Rather than getting tired by simply walking to the bathroom, with a little physical activity, my father saw an increase in his cardiovascular fitness. What helped him achieve this? During the commercials of his favorite television show, he would simply curl a can of soup until the commercial ended.

Exercises for All

There are many exercises that are designed for those with limited mobility. Whether a medical condition or job that requires you to sit for extended periods of time, if you are looking to improve your physical well-being, bone strength and your overall fitness you can benefit from programs such as "Sit and Be Fit". This is a nationally broadcast fitness show for those individuals who are not physically able to participate in traditional exercising.

Don't let your mobility fade or your health deteriorate right before your very eyes. Take control over your health finding a diet and exercise plan that you can do at work or home.
