Juice For Fasting - To Cleanse Your Body and Mind

By Samantha Dillard

Since the early centuries or maybe even during the dawn of man, men have always tried to search for the meaning of their existence. Men have always tried to grasp and understand that which is essential to them, and in doing so, have tried to define the relationship between him and the greater power that allows him to exist. Oftentimes, men have always believed that only through healing one's spirit can one heal his body and his mind.

Juice Fasting and Detoxification

Although water fasting is still considered to be fasting in its purest form, nowadays, juice for fasting is being introduced as an alternative to water fasting. Juice fasting eliminates the unnecessary side effects that come with fasting using water alone, such as headaches and fatigue. Through this process, one is able to use up stored forms of energy such as glucose, fat and proteins since the body is deprived of basic food sources provided by a basic meal. Toxins considered to be fat-soluble are also eliminated. At the same time though, the body is not entirely stripped of necessary vitamins and minerals seen in vegetables and fruits used for juice fasting. Hence, the unnecessary side effects which accompany water fasting, most specially the feeling of fatigue, is eliminated.

Some even claim that after a 3-day juice fast, they become re-energized ending up in a better sense of well-being.

Juice fasting also helps in cleaning the colon of unwanted toxins which are often stored in the intestines. It also does not subject the intestines to stress brought about by eating too much fiber from raw vegetables and fruits. The end results are said to be pretty much the same.

Juice Fasting and Spiritual Cleansing

For centuries, different individuals of different creeds have always resorted to fasting as a means of denying themselves of material temptation. These, they say, interfere in their relationship to that which they hold dear - whether it be a deity, a higher power or a simple belief in a better life upon rebirth.

In a stricter sense, fasting is oftentimes defined as denying one's self of food, and even drink for a sustained period of time. In terms of religion, this is performed in order to give time for one to meditate upon what makes one's spirit whole. For different religions, denying one's self of material indulgences enables one to get in touch with one's spirituality. After all, it is through this sense of materialism that one gives in to temptation and a continuous feeling of dissatisfaction.

Individual's have resorted to juice fasting during the most desperate of times if only to feel closer to God or to whoever is the holder of their beliefs. One realizes that deprivation through hunger makes the spirit stronger and in becoming stronger, one's ends up with renewed faith. In a renewed sense of faith, one is able to develop a sense of inner peace needed to heal what was once destroyed. Finally, in coming to terms with all that one has discovered about his soul and his spirit, one becomes more prepared to once again embark in the continuous journey of what he now knows to be his life.
