Full Moon In Cancer January 19th 2011

By Barbara Goldsmith

This full Moon falls on the very last degree of Cancer while the Sun is at the last degree of Capricorn. This indicates an opportunity for endings and completions. It might be an opportunity for you to forgive someone, or to let go of any resentment you have been carrying, or to end a relationship that you know is past its sell by date. It could be an intimate relationship or it could be a business relationship.

For example, the Full Moon falls in my first house and meant that I needed to let go of a relationship with a business supplier. I had invested considerable money and time into it, but I knew needed to move on. I was reluctant to move on because I didn't want to lose the money or the great deal of time I had invested, but I found a new supplier who is much more efficient and they even offered me a free deal that more than made up for the money I lost. However, I had to let go of the old relationship first in order for the new opportunity to come to me.

In your own chart, see which axis this Full Moon falls. For me it was the 1st and 7th house which pertains to my self and my relationships. The 2nd and 8th houses are your finances and other people's money, 3rd and 9th are all about learning, teaching, travelling, new horizons, 4th and 10th are home and career, 5th and 11th are personal creativity, your friends and your future dreams, 6th and 12th houses are work, service, health and helping others less fortunate than yourself.

Full Moons deal with the polarity of energies. With Cancer and Capricorn it's the balance between your career and your home and family. Does one need more attention and focus?
This particular Full Moon promises to be a very lucky day as it makes a trine with Jupiter the planet of good fortune.

The Full Moon in Cancer is all about nurturing and taking care of yourself and others. It's about being kind to them and feeding them emotionally or even physically. Cancer does rule food and drink and be careful not to overindulge at this time. Typical of this Moon in Cancer would be a mother figure saying "eat, you look too thin, I made such a lovely meal for you." "Have some more, you've eaten like a bird..." Often food and drink are used as replacements for the feeling of love and nurturing.

Here are some things you can do during this Full Moon to make best use of the energies:
Reach out to an old friend
Nurture others or allow yourself to be nurtured
Do something nice for yourself
Give shelter to an animal or neighbour if they need it
Be near water
Allow yourself to feel vulnerable
Have the courage to be true to your feelings
Be around the home - clean up clutter, finish up unfinished projects, bring beauty into your home, make a lovely meal, have a hot bath, work with your hands, do some baking, give or get a massage
Love yourself
Allow yourself some solitude
Create family around you
Snuggle up with someone, or get yourself a furry blanket that you can wrap around you. Anything that makes you feel safe and secure and comforted is appropriate during this Full Moon
You may want to connect with someone from your past, or a strong memory of someone from your past may come into your awareness. See if there is anything that you now need to let go of in order to move forward with your life.
Look inwards and take stock of your physical and emotional needs
The emotional reality of a situation may come to light and it's a good time for release and healing. If you need to cry, then cry. Get it out of your system and then let it go. Don't wallow in it.
Because of the trine aspect this Full Moon makes to Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, this is potentially a good time for completing negotiations on a business deal and any plans you have been working on.

You may feel extra emotional during this Full Moon and ultra-sensitive to just about everything and everyone around you. It's a time to feel grateful blessed and comforted by what you do have in your life.
